Biography

Emmanuel Salifu is a clinical microbiologist, union leader, and entrepreneur with a strong commitment to public health and laboratory science. He currently heads the Clinical Microbiology Unit at Holy Family Catholic Hospital Laboratory in Nkawkaw, Ghana. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he plays a leadership role in the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers Union (MELPWU), Ghana, and manages a medical equipment and supplies business as the CEO of ASK Emmanuel's Sales. Emmanuel is pursuing an MPhil in Clinical Microbiology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His research focuses on the characterization of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in community water bodies, with the goal of understanding how environmental factors contribute to the spread of resistant pathogens. His broader interests lie in tracking AMR trends in both clinical and environmental settings and developing interventions that support public health, antimicrobial stewardship, and effective diagnostic practices.
